When we started Tandem a couple years ago, I told my grandmother about our vision and she said: “Oy vay!”
A small business owner who had moved her company between 3 or 4 different offices, she described the moving experience as “life shortening.”
It shouldn’t be that way.
We started Tandem to make it easy — and possibly even fun — for companies to find great space to be together. And why shouldn’t it be? Physical space can change a team. The search and move should be an enabler to this, not an impediment.
Today we’re excited to launch Tandem Concierge — a free service we’re providing for select spaces designed to streamline the lease and move process.
Tandem Concierge is your single point of contact for everything office space
A typical search can take three to six months and involve a dozen or more vendors, with hundreds or even thousands of back-and-forth emails, covering topics like:
- Legal: How do I ensure my lease is fair and covers all my needs?
- Insurance: What are the best coverage options for my business?
- Internet Services: How do I choose the right plan and provider?
- Access Control: What systems are best for securing my office?
- Janitorial: How often do I need cleaning services and what are the options?
- Trash Services: How do I set up regular waste management?
- Utilities: What’s the process for managing electricity, water, and other utilities?
- IT Setup and Support: How do I setup reliable conference room and networking equipment?
- Furniture: What are my options for office furniture and setup?
- Moving: How do I coordinate the logistics of moving into a new space?
It used to take a full time office manager to accomplish all this. And it sure wasn’t fun.
How Tandem Concierge Works
Tandem Concierge is a new service designed to make it easy for companies looking for private suites to coordinate all these pieces of the puzzle.
We will support you through the leasing process at every step where support is needed.
Whether it’s an attorney to review your lease documents, a copy of your insurance COI, or any of the myriad physical space needs such as janitorial, utilities, internet, or trash service, we will serve as your go-to point of contact.
If you select a space with the “Includes Tandem Concierge” box, you’ll be assigned a dedicated account manager who will reach out to walk you through all your office lease decisions, and the associated timelines for each.
For most decisions, we’ll provide a set of preferred vendors who we’ve worked with in the past and can speak to their quality of service. (We do not earn any kickbacks or commissions for any vendor you choose). We’ll help you understand your option set and provide points of comparison from similar companies so you can make an informed decision.
Vendor agreements will be signed by your company, but for most ongoing services (such as internet and utilities), Tandem can act as a bill-through partner to consolidate your office costs on one monthly invoice.
Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for you to onboard, coordinate, and pay the bills.
